Here is a list of things about Vista that people always get wrong

Turning off desktop composition in compatibility mode does not improve game performance at all because Windows does it for you for fullscreen games anyway.

Bootvis doesn't do anything on Vista, or XP for that matter because its routines are built in. Using it makes no difference and any difference you see is a placebo.

You cannot improve Vista performance and memory consumption by disabling services (for the most part). Other services will steal this freed up memory for themselves.

A Radeon 9600 is a good video card for Aero Glass. An Intel GMA950 is a good video card for Aero Glass. A GeForce FX5600 is a good video card for Aero Glass.

If your Windows program doesn't work properly in Vista it is probably a crappy program.

Windows Updates are there because Microsoft makes mistakes. It is not there to destroy your computer. Leave it on.

UAC is a good idea for stupid people. If you are not a stupid people then turn it off.

If everything is running slow then get more RAM or an operating system that needs less. Vista will not run on a 200 MHz processor like XP did.

And remember: Windows Vista is silly and large. If you do not like your OS silly and large find something else. WINE plays Oblivion properly, sort of.
