About this Site
I can think of quite a few words I'd use to describe this site. Among them being things like "useless" and "pretty." Kind of like a blonde girl. Yeah. Anyway, I made this. It is a site about nothing. Well actually it's a site about breaking into the Internet with my unique culturisms or whatever.
The best part of this site is undoubtedly its HTML. It's no-nonsense HTML that doesn't try to complete with the clinically obese in its use of tables or font tags or whatever else silly people are still using even though it's not 1998. I'm all for web semantics and proper markup and whatever else. I'm not really obsessive about it though. I just think it's a sensible system, like HTTP or e-mail. Given I don't know nearly enough about either of those to really know if it's sensible or not. Let's just say I do.
The very first site I made was an N64 cheats thing on MSN Communities. It used black backgrounds and red text. The links were dark blue and mostly unreadable. Yes, I can hear your screams of agony from here. But I was only eleven. I've moved up from then going through quite a few design phases, from tables to CSS, getting flashier as I progressed. There was even a point where I thought bandwidth of an HTML file was paramount so I wrote all my code on one line. Heh. I see where I am right now as a plateau, which is fine by me. This page is pretty good if I do say so myself. At least I didn't make it with the tables.
About Me
I like to feel creative and poetic with a hint of emo. I like the sound of pianos, and I like the look of light bloom. I like to use these whenever I make things for myself and others.
I spend most of my free time doing any number of small hobbies. None of which I take very seriously. I make music, code things, make layouts and manipulate images. I'm kind of a boring person actually.
I don't have a favourite colour. I think I'm good at design, be it web or otherwise. I've never taken any formal classes or training for any creative things and I don't really want to. I feel like if I take the creative things and formalise them then I'll lose the creativity and there won't be enough of me in them to call them mine.
I live in Alberta, Canada, and I've lived here for all my life. I'm fairly patriotic, but judgemental about the government. I don't think you can call yourself patriotic and not be judgemental about your government actually. In that vein, I tend to gravitate to things made here, especially in music and television.
I admire Jeroen van der Meer, Douglas Bowman, Simon Gray, Roger Johansson, Anthony Parsons, Adam, and all the talented people that have contributed to the CSS Zen Garden. These people all have some sort of inherent talent that allows them to create beautiful things.
